Customs Union uncertainty hurts all concerned, Yanukovych says

ZAVIDOVO (Russia), March 4 - Uncertainty in Ukraine's cooperation with the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan has a negative impact not only on Kiev, President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"The negative processes are developing on both sides. There are exemptions, and it doesn't please us," Yanukovych said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Zavidovo (Tver region) on Monday.


Court postpones ruling on opposition MP

KIEV, March 5 – A ruling that may strip jailed former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s key defender of his parliamentary mandate was postponed until Wednesday as court requested additional information from state agencies, lawmakers said Tuesday.


President approves construction of nuke waste fuel storage facility

KIEV, March 2 – President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a decree on the construction of a centralized storage facility for waste nuclear fuel from Water-Water Energetic Reactors (WWER) at domestic nuclear power plants.


Azarov hopeful on natural gas price compromise with Russians

KIEV, March 3 – Ukraine hopes to reach a compromise with Russia on the basis of a new draft gas agreement proposed by Russia's Gazprom, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.

"Now we are studying the document. We are preparing for negotiations with the Russian side. We have our own vision of this contract, and we want a compromise to be reached on the basis of our vision and the proposed draft," he told reporters in Kiev on Saturday.


Work begins on new containment structure for Chernobyl nuclear reactor
