Ukraine to restart Zaporizhia reactor No. 3 after unexpected shutdown

KIEV, Dec. 3 - Ukraine plans to put its reactor No. 3 at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant back in operation on Friday, a week after it was unexpectedly shut down due to malfunction in power equipment, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said Wednesday.

Latest Gazprom debt payment delayed as protests paralyze government

KIEV, Dec. 3 - Ukraine will delay payment of its natural gas supply debt to Russian gas company Gazprom because of ongoing popular protests that have blocked the work of the government, an official said Tuesday.

Yevhen Bakulin, the head of the national energy company Naftogaz Ukrayiny, said the original plan was to pay the $765 million debt by December 7.
