NBU governor appears headed for defeat on 15% hard currency tax
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Dec. 3 – Serhiy Arbuzov, the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, may suffer his first political defeat as the ruling Regions Party refuses to back his controversial idea of introducing a hard currency selling tax.

Arbuzov pushed hard for a bill to slap a 15% tax on selling of hard currency by individuals, but even the Regions Party hasn’t been convinced the measure would help the economy.
