KIEV, Dec. 3 - Ukraine plans to put its reactor No. 3 at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant back in operation on Friday, a week after it was unexpectedly shut down due to malfunction in power equipment, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said Wednesday.
The shutdown caused an international concern early on Wednesday after Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk had described to it as an ‘accident.’
“There is not any threat. The malfunction has taken place at the No. 3 block of Zaporizhia plant in the system of power distribution,” Demchyshyn said at a press conference. “It has nothing to do with power generation. It has nothing to do with the reactor.”
