Regions disputes Tymoshenko version of 2009 Russian natural gas deal

KIEV, May 5 – The Regions Party has said a claim by Batkivschyna Party Leader and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko that her team agreed in 2009 with the Russian Federation to pay $228 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas is untrue.


Firtash buys 90% of Nadra Bank for $440m

KIEV, May 5 - Ukrainian billionaire Dmytro Firtash spent about $440 million to acquire a 90% stake in Nadra Bank, a large troubled bank that has been under central bank management since 2009, Nadra reported.


Yanukovych calls for development of Belarus cross-border cooperation

KIEV, April 30 – President Viktor Yanukovych has called for developing cross-border and interregional cooperation with Belarus.

"We should address the issue of cross-border and interregional cooperation. Cooperation between our regions will help boost cross-border trade. It would also help in attracting investments," the Ukrainian president said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.

Foreign minister off to New York nonproliferation conference

KIEV, April 30 - Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko left on a working visit to New York on Friday to participate in the 2010 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported that Hryschenko would meet with the foreign ministers of the countries participating in the conference, including Austria, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Canada.
