KIEV, May 5 - Ukraine’s national energy company Naftogaz Ukrayiny on Wednesday paid $419 million to Russia’s gas giant Gazprom for natural gas imported in April, Naftogaz said in a statement.

This is Ukraine’s first payment for gas following an agreement signed April 21 lowering prices for Russian natural gas in exchange for extending the stationing of Russian navy in Sevastopol by 25 years.
