We’ll invest EUR1b/yr if Ukraine climate improves, says EBRD director

KIEV, Oct. 17 – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to invest about EUR 1 billion a year in the implementation of projects in Ukraine if the investment climate in the country is improved, EBRD Director in Ukraine Andre Kuusvek said.


Ukrzaliznytsia opens Kharkiv repair depot for new high-speed trains

KIEV, Oct. 18 – The State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) has opened a repair and servicing depot in Kharkiv to service the country's new high-speed trains.


EBRD to spend EUR25-30 million to finance Ukraine energy projects

KIEV, Oct. 17 - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to finance three projects to build renewable energy facilities worth EUR 25-30 million in Ukraine, EBRD Principal Manager for Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Sergiy Maslichenko said at the 3rd International Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Forum in Kiev on Monday.


Budget deficit to fall to 1% of GDP next year, says finance ministry

KIEV, Oct. 17 – Ukraine's national budget deficit will fall from 1.6% of GDP in 2012 to 1% of GDP in 2013, forecasts the Finance Ministry.

"The reduction in the national budget deficit to 1% in 2013 and 1.5% in 2014 will provide moderate growth in the state debt, which will not exceed the GDP growth rate. Retaining this deficit level is to be achieved through increasing budget revenues and optimizing budget expenditures," a statement from the ministry reads.


Finance ministry allocates UAH8.9 billion to state coal mines

KIEV, Oct. 18 – The Finance Ministry has agreed to the allocation of UAH 8.9 billion in the national budget for 2011 to the Coal Ministry to support state-run coal mines, while the ministry had asked for UAH 19.7 billion, First Deputy Coal Minister Yuriy Cherednychenko said.


Ukraine and Russia report having problems with An-148 production

MOSCOW, Oct. 18 – Ukraine and Russia are having problems maintaining the steady mass production of the An-148 regional aircraft, according to the minutes of the seventh meeting of the sub-commission for cooperation in the aviation industry of the committee for economic cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission.


Ukraine promulgates quota limiting grain exports to 2.7 million tons

KIEV, Oct. 18 – Ukraine has introduced a grain export quota of 2.7 million tons of grain through December 31, 2010.

Cabinet resolution No. 938 of October 4, 2010, detailing the imposition of the grain export quota, has been posted on the official Web site of the Ukrainian government.


Sumy Frunze to supply large ball cock consignment to Uktransgaz

KIEV, Oct. 18 - Sumy Frunze research and industrial center, one of the world's leading producers of equipment for the gas, oil and chemicals industries, and part of the Energy standard group owned by businessman Konstantin Grigorishin, plans to supply a large consignment of ball cocks to state-run Ukrtransgaz, a subsidiary of National JSC Naftogaz Ukrayiny.


Ukraine industrial production up 10.8% YTD through end of Q3

KIEV, Oct. 15 - Ukraine's total industrial production in January-September 2010 went up by 10.8% year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee said.

Industrial output went up by January-August by 10.9% year-on-year and January-July 2009 - 11.1%.


Smugglers are killing Odessa oil refinery upgrade, consultant says

KIEV, Oct. 15 – The stoppage of work Odessa oil refinery is linked to a rise in untaxed imports of fuel to Ukraine, domination of smuggled and falsified products on the market along with the absence of the government's actions to repress the schemes, according to Kiev-based A-95 consulting group.
