Ukraine promulgates quota limiting grain exports to 2.7 million tons
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Oct. 18 – Ukraine has introduced a grain export quota of 2.7 million tons of grain through December 31, 2010.

Cabinet resolution No. 938 of October 4, 2010, detailing the imposition of the grain export quota, has been posted on the official Web site of the Ukrainian government.

According to the document, the wheat export quota is 500,000 tons, that for barley is 200,000 tons and that for corn two million tons.

The resolution introduces a quota of 1,000 tons on rye and buckwheat exports, which effectively amounts to a ban on exports of these crops.
