Energomarket: Average wholesale electricity price rose 19% in 2016

KIEV, Feb. 3 - The average wholesale market price of electricity on the wholesale electricity market of Ukraine in 2016 increased by 19%, from UAH 1,105.08 to UAH 1,315.03 per MWh.


NBU expects Ukraine state debt to hold steady at 82% of GDP this year

KIEV, Feb. 3 – The total direct and guaranteed state debt of Ukraine in 2017 would remain at around 82% of GDP, and in 2018 would decline to 80% of GDP, the National Bank of Ukraine said in an inflation report posted on its website.

Inflation held steady in January at 0.2%, according to government

KIEV, Feb. 6 – Inflation in Ukraine in January was 0.2%, same as in December 2011, the State Statistics Service reported on Monday.

In annual terms (against the same month of the previous year) inflation in January 2012 fell to 3.7%, from 4.2% in December, the service said.


Ukraine has suspended Russia electric imports, PM tells Facebook

KIEV, Feb. 3 – Ukraine has suspended imports of Russian electricity, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in a posting on his page in Facebook.

"There was a period when we had to import electricity from Russia, but this was connected with the switching off of a power unit at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant on the one hand, and on the other hand it was easier to cover this shortage by [importing] supplies from neighboring countries," he wrote.


Dairy manufacturers protest Russian statements about Ukrainian cheese

KIEV, Feb. 6 - The Ukrainian dairy manufacturers association Ukrmolprom has issued a statement protesting the statements made by Russian Rospotrebnadzor Director Gennady Onishchenko stating that Ukrainian cheese contains palm oil.
