KIEV, Feb. 3 – Ukraine has suspended imports of Russian electricity, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in a posting on his page in Facebook.
"There was a period when we had to import electricity from Russia, but this was connected with the switching off of a power unit at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant on the one hand, and on the other hand it was easier to cover this shortage by [importing] supplies from neighboring countries," he wrote.
Azarov also rejected a possibility of mass blackouts in the country.
"We are not considering the possibility of rolling blackouts, as we have sufficient reserves of power. Even now, despite there being maximum consumption, and I have said earlier that we've reached record electricity consumption, we have sufficient reserves of power," the PM said.
