Private companies lose $400-mln on lower natural gas output in 2022-2023
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, March 15 - The fall in natural gas production by private companies during 2022-2023 led to a loss of approximately $400 million annually, so opening its exports would provide new markets, make it possible to earn money for investing in production and generate additional foreign exchange earnings, says CEO of D.Trading Dmytro Maliar.

"You can calmly look at how private production falls by 1.3-1.4 billion cubic meters (for 2022-2023), but if you translate this into money, it’s $400 million annually, and these $400 million could have been obtained if we exported this in the absence of domestic demand. I don’t think this is an effective solution, since the country loses $400 million annually," he said during the round table on the second year of the ban on natural gas exports from Ukraine, its consequences and prospects, organized by the energy committee of the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on March 14.
