KYIV, May 10 - The weighted average rate on term deposits in hryvnia in April decreased by 0.9 percentage points (p.p.) - from 7.8% to 6.9% per annum, which is a record low level in the history of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine said on its website.
According to its data, the weighted average rate in foreign currency remained at the same level - 0.6% per annum.
The NBU recalled that in March the rate on hryvnia deposits decreased by 0.2 percentage points, and in February - by 0.1 percentage points.
According to the National Bank, the previous record low level of hryvnia rates - 7.4% per annum - was recorded in July last year. Having stayed on it for another month, the rate began to grow and reached 8% per annum by the end of the year, and by the end of January - 8.1% per annum.
As reported, inflation in Ukraine in 2021 doubled to 10%. In March of this year, it rose to 13.7%, and the National Bank expects it to rise to 15.9% in April. (om/ez)
