KYIV, Jan 18 - Ukraine’s top security body supported a bill that calls for joining the European Union and boosting the country’s security standards to the EU’s level while also increasing cooperation with NATO, President Petro Poroshenko said.
"This legislative act should bring national security and defense standards in line with the standards of national security of the European Union... The draft sets the task of Ukraine's membership of both the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty [Organization], which should be an unconditional guarantee of the security of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state," Poroshenko was quoted by his press service as saying.
