Ukraine to cut partly power supplies to Crimea for 'maintenance'
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, May 16 - Ukraine will cut power supplies to Crimea, its Black Sea peninsula that has been occupied and annexed by Russia, due to maintenance of two power lines, the power company DTEK warned Friday.

DTEK, the largest power and mining group in Ukraine, said the maintenance will be conducted on May 17-18 and May 23-25, which will effectively shut down 50% of power supplies to the peninsula. DTEK also owns local Crimean power distributor, DTEK Krymenergo.
