KIEV, Sept. 17 – KrasnodonVuhillya, Ukraine’s second-largest coking coal producer shut down one of its coal mines after a fire early Sunday, the Emergency Situations Ministry reported Monday.
Samsonivska-Zakhidna coal mine in the Luhansk region was shut after the fire had started about 915 meters underground shortly after the midnight, the ministry said.
There were 195 coalminers working at the mine, but all of them had been safely evacuated to the surface, the ministry said.
