KIEV, Sept. 5 – The hryvnia gained against the U.S. dollar Thursday as the state-owned saving banks continued massively selling dollars, with the National Bank of Ukraine threatening banks bidding against the local currency.

The hryvnia closed at 8.12 to the dollar in trading between commercial banks on Thursday, compared with 8.14/dollar on Wednesday and 8.19/dollar on Tuesday, dealers said.
