KIEV, July 11 – The opposition should stop trying to scare the country with apocalyptic forecasts, as the Ukrainian government is ready for a possible worsening of the situation in the world economy, said National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Kliuyev.

He also said that the numerous warnings of the opposition about allegedly upcoming disasters were obviously pre-election populism.

"No one says that it will be simple. However, all unbiased economic rates indicate that Ukraine's economy is steady to a certain extent, and that it's better prepared for external risks than it was in 2008," Kliuyev said.
