KIEV, May 31 - Thousands of Ukrainian mining and metallurgy industry workers on Tuesday joined a protest rally in Zaporizhia seeking to stop massive layoffs in the sector.

The protest action, which involves about 5,000 workers, comes amid warnings from several metallurgy companies in the region that more shutdowns and more layoff are likely.
