President accuses officials of ‘sabotage’

KIEV, Jan. 17 – President Viktor Yanukovych, in surprise remarks on Thursday, accused undisclosed government officials of sabotaging economic reforms and urged Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to quickly address the problem.

Natgas talks with Russia fail to progress

KIEV, Jan. 17 – Ukraine’s natural gas price talks with Russia failed to make progress on Tuesday, with Kiev insisting that it will cut imports of Russian gas unless the price is reduced.

Energy and Coal Minister Yuriy Boyko met the head of OAO Gazprom, Russia’s gas export monopoly, in Moscow, but the two had failed to reach any deal, Gazprom said in a statement.
