Ukraine offers to let Russians complete Ukraina cruiser construction

KIEV, June 29 – Ukraine has proposed that Russia complete the Ukraina cruiser, which could be part of Russian Navy, at Mykolaiv’s Sixty-One Communards Shipyard, Industry Minister Dmytro Kolesnikov said at a briefing in Kiev on Tuesday.


European Union Council approves EUR500 million Ukraine assistance

BRUSSELS, June 30 – The Council of the European Union has approved a EUR 500 million macro-financial assistance to Ukraine to help it overcome its financial crisis.

The decision was passed at the Council's meeting on agriculture and fisheries in Luxembourg on June 29.

Prosecutor: Murder account given by PM ally ‘does not hold water’

KIEV, June 30 – The account given by Viktor Lozynskiy, a lawmaker and ally of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, of the recent murder in the Kirovohrad region “does not hold water,” a top prosecutor said Tuesday.

Valeriy Oliynyk, 55, died on June 16 under unclear circumstances after encountering Lozynskiy and two of his friends. Lozynskiy later explained the death that his group had fought the man in self-defense.
