KIEV, June 30 – The account given by Viktor Lozynskiy, a lawmaker and ally of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, of the recent murder in the Kirovohrad region “does not hold water,” a top prosecutor said Tuesday.
Valeriy Oliynyk, 55, died on June 16 under unclear circumstances after encountering Lozynskiy and two of his friends. Lozynskiy later explained the death that his group had fought the man in self-defense.
But Renat Kuzmin, the top prosecutor supervising the investigation, told Segodnia daily that prosecutors had questioned about 750 people, and that Lozynskiy’s account simply “does not hold water.”
