KIEV, June 30 – The diplomatic scandal over the attempted deportation of a senior Western analyst continued to escalate Wednesday, with German lawmakers demanding Ukraine hold a transparent investigation of the incident or face reaction from the German government.
But the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned foreign diplomats to warn them that think tanks operating in Ukraine must “strictly comply” with Ukrainian legislation.
The developments come days after Niko Lange, the head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s Kiev office, was stopped at Boryspil airport after the authorities had denied him entry and tried to deport him from Ukraine.
