KIEV, July 31 – Parliament has passed a government draft law proposing to exempt companies implementing investment projects in priority economic sectors from obligatory profit tax until 2018.

Government losing control over economy, according to opposition MP

KIEV, July 29 – The government is not able to keep prices down, it is loosing control over basic processes in the economy and is failing to carry out reforms, according to Natalia Korolevska, MP from the BYT-Batkivschyna faction and head of the parliamentary committee for industrial and regulatory policies and entrepreneurship.

34 killed, 6 injured in mining accidents

KIEV, July 31 – Thirty four coal miners were killed and six injured Friday in two separate accidents at coalmines in Luhansk and Donetsk regions in the latest setback to Ukraine’s plans to expand coal output.

President Viktor Yanukovych suspended his vacation in Crimea and traveled to the regions on Friday to visit the crippled coalmines, urging a thorough investigation into both accidents.
