Prime minister invites Chevron to participate in hydrocarbon projects
KIEV, May 31 – Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has invited Chevron to participate in new projects for the production of hydrocarbon in Ukraine.
While meeting with General Manager of Chevron Onshore Europe Derek Magness in Kiev on Thursday, Azarov said new sections would be allocated to produce gas, and invited Chevron to partake in tenders to develop them, the government's press service reported. |
Kiev mayor, in Israel for 2 years, finally announces his resignation
KIEV, June 4 – Kiev Mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy, who hs lived in Israel for the past two years, letting President Viktor Yanukovych’s loyalist run the city, announced his resignation on Saturday.
The resignation, one day before Chernovetskiy’s official duties were to expire, allows the local authorities, controlled by the Regions Party, to delay the Kiev mayoral election for months. |

Naftogaz Ukrayiny seeking to borrow $500 million to pay gas tab
KIEV, June 4 - Naftogaz Ukrayniy is seeking to borrow $500 million from undisclosed commercial banks to pay Russian gas giant Gazprom by June 7 for gas imported in May, an official said Thursday.
Bohdan Sokolovskiy, the energy security envoy of President Viktor Yushchenko, said Naftogaz has been talking to a number of banks, including Russian banks. |
