MOSCOW, June 1 - The European Union will sign an association agreement with Ukraine only after it is convinced that Kiev respects the rule of law, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said.
"However, I am very disappointed and very concerned about recent examples of politically-motivated justice in Ukraine, of which I'm afraid the Tymoshenko case is just one," Van Rompuy said in an interview with Interfax ahead of the Russia-EU summit in Strelna outside St. Petersburg on June 3-4.
