KIEV, Sept. 9 - Ukraine is near a deal with Kazakhstan over resumption of Kazakh crude oil supplies to the European Union via Ukrainian oil pipelines, First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Kliuyev said.

Yanukovych gives government two months to draft 10 reform projects

KIEV, Sept. 8 – President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed the government to draft and approve in two months up to 10 national projects in each of the four areas supported by the Economic Reform Committee.


GDP shrink will be worse than expected, inflation less, says report

KIEV, Sept. 9 - Ukraine's GDP will contract by 14% with an inflation rate of around 13% in 2009, according to a memorandum developed by the country's authorities and unveiled recently by the International Monetary Fund.

The document, dated July 23 and only published on Tuesday, worsens the GDP decrease forecast from 8% (as posted in last review of the IMF partnership plan in spring of this year). However, the IMF's inflation forecast was improved against an earlier figure of 16%.


Yushchenko to travel to Turkmenistan to secure natural gas supplies

KIEV, Sept. 9 – President Viktor Yushchenko will travel to Turkmenistan on Monday for three-day talks seeking to secure direct supplies of natural gas to the country, Yushchenko’s press service reported Wednesday.
