Ukraine’s motor fuel market expands 6% on year in 2021 amid recovery

KYIV, Jan 14 – The volume of the motor fuel market, including petrol, diesel fuel liquefied gas, in Ukraine, in 2021 increased by 6%, to 12.22 million tons, according to the A-95 Consulting Group.


Ukrainian cell phone companies report higher usage of internet by users

KYIV, Jan 14 – Subscribers of the "Big Three" mobile operators Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell – during the New Year and Christmas holidays increased their Internet use compared to the same period last year, and voice services mostly remained at the same level.


Ukrainian nuclear power plants boost output 13.1% on year in 2021

KYIV, Jan 14 – In 2021, Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) generated 86.4 billion kWh of electricity, which is 13.1% more than in 2020, Energoatom reported.

According to the company on Friday, this figure is the highest figure for nuclear generation in the past six years.


Denmark’s Hjort Knudsen says Ukrainian furniture factory is 80%-ready

Antonov Airlines to start reducing aircraft emissions from 2030

KYIV, Jan 17 – Aircraft of Antonov Airlines (Kyiv) with a cargo ramp in the tail section are exempt from the ICAO aircraft CO2 emissions standard, but from 2030 the company will be required to choose one of the programs to reduce emissions, Antonov Airlines Leading Engineer Vadym Deniskov has told Interfax-Ukraine.


NBU lifts ban on transactions by individuals to forward trade forex, metals

KYIV, Jan 18 – The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has lifted the ban on transactions by individuals to carry out forward purchase or sale of foreign currency or precious metals on margin trading to buy government securities denominated in foreign currency, the NBU reported Saturday.


Energoatom to use UAH 5.1-bln payment to repay Westinghouse debts

KYIV, Jan 18 – Energoatom, the state nuclear power generating company, will use most of the approximately UAH 5.1 billion that will be received from state-owned enterprise Guaranteed Buyer as debt repayment for fuel to Westinghouse and other suppliers, acting President of Energoatom Petro Kotin has said.


Goldman Sachs raises Ukraine’s sustainable emerging market investing rating

KYIV, Jan 18 – Goldman Sachs Group Inc. raised the rating of Ukraine in its ESG rating (sustainable investing, environmental-social-governance) of emerging markets by about 0.13 points, to 6.27 points, which allowed the country to climb by two positions – to 44th out of 72 on the list.


Ukrainian firms see worsening inflation expectations within 12 months

KYIV, Jan 15 – Ukrainian business has worsened expectations of a slowdown in inflation for the next 12 months to 7.9% from 7% and a depreciation of the hryvnia to UAH 29.68/$1 from UAH 28.99/$1.


Anti-Monopoly Committee targets Regional Gas Company’s alleged dominance

KYIV, Jan 16 – The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine sees signs of dominance of the Regional Gas Company (RGC) in the natural gas market and is closely studying the actions of the group, which has the highest gas prices among all suppliers.
