KYIV, Jan 14 – In 2021, Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) generated 86.4 billion kWh of electricity, which is 13.1% more than in 2020, Energoatom reported.
According to the company on Friday, this figure is the highest figure for nuclear generation in the past six years.
The company said that several factors contributed to the generation growth. In particular, the optimization of a schedule of repair campaigns, which provides for repairs during a period of minimum electricity consumption so that NPPs can carry the maximum load during the peaks of an autumn-winter period. At the same time, according to the company's calculations, additional 2.6 billion kWh provided a significant reduction in the time of repair campaigns – by 116 days, which Energoatom called a record.
