Privat Bank is unlikely to be returned to private ownership: analyst
KYIV, May 17 – International investors believe it is unlikely that PrivatBank (Kyiv) will be returned to private ownership due to large risks for the country.
"It will be such a painful signal [for investors] that it is unlikely to happen," Regional Manager, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine at IFC (the International Finance Corporation) Jason Pellmar said, speaking at the conference Ukraine: Game of Thrones. Privatbank launches Apple Pay service in Ukraine
KYIV, May 18 – The largest state-owned bank PrivatBank launched the Apple Pay service on Thursday.
"Apple Pay in Ukraine! Today PrivatBank launched this globally popular payment service," Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk wrote on his Facebook page. He said that this is the indicator of the attractiveness of the Ukrainian market for global innovative companies. |
Managers complain about plans to hike scrap metal export duty
KYIV, May 18 – Top managers of the Ukrainian Association of Scrap Metals and Resources (UAVtormetresurs) said plans by metal sector lobbyists to extend the export duty on scrap ferrous metal and increase it from EUR 30 per ton to EUR 42 per ton are anti-competitive, which puts both Ukrainian business and Turkish enterprises, the key buyer of Ukrainian scrap, at disadvantage. |
Parliament backs scrap metal export duty hike legislation
KYIV, May 17 – Parliament introduced amendments to address shortage of ferrous metal scrap in the domestic market, which have raised the export duty rate from EUR 30 per ton, to EUR42 per ton and extended its effect for another 12 months. |
