Ukraine may lose half of restaurants due to coronavirus impact
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, May 20 Due to the negative impact of the coronavirus crisis, the Ukrainian restaurant market may halve in the next six to 10 months, Taras Serediuk, founder and co-owner of the Mafia restaurant chain, has said.

"Maybe I am a pessimist, but I think that the market will collapse, it will at least halve. Everything that will happen in the next six to ten months will affect this. We are starting a war with our landlords. We are starting a big war with the state as for what taxes we will pay. We are starting a big war with suppliers who have sharply reacted to calls for [to pay] "nothing to anyone" and many of them are very belligerent," he said during an online meeting of the newly created Ukrainian Restaurant Association.
