Ukraine exported 24.7 million tons of grain in y/e June 2009

KIEV, July 2 – Ukraine exported 24.7 million tons of grain during the 2008/2009 marketing year (July 2008 through June 2009) making the country one of the world's three largest grain exporters, the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation reported.


Gernany’s Dyckerhoff AG Group to start using coal to fuel production

KIEV, July 3 – Germany's Dyckerhoff AG Group, which includes OJSC Yugcement (Olshanske, Mykolaiv region) and OJSC Volyn-Cement (Zdolbuniv, Rivne region), plans in 2010 to start using coal for fuel in cement production at the two plants.

Naftogaz Ukrayiny appoints new chairman of UkrGazVydobuvannya

KIEV, July 3 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny appointed Oleksiy Cheberda as chairman of the country’s largest natural gas producer UkrGazVydobuvannya (UGV), Naftogaz said Friday.

Cheberda, 51, who until recently worked as deputy director of UGV, replaced Illya Rybchych at the post, the company said.

Naftogaz first deputy chairman Ihor Didenko introduced the new director to the company’s employees on Friday. Naftogaz, which owns 100% stake in UkrGazVydobuvannya, refused to disclose the reason for the reshuffling.


Third-largest steelmaker unveils plans to drastically cut emmissions

KIEV, July 3 – Azovstal, Ukraine’s third-largest steelmaker, plans to dramatically reduce emissions of greenhouse gas (GHG) into the atmosphere as it plans to introduce energy conservation program, the company’s press service said Friday.

Ukrainian, Russian steel traders/suppliers work on cooperation

KIEV, July 4 - The Russian Union of Metal and Steel Suppliers (formerly the Russian association of steel traders) and the Ukrainian Association of Steel Traders are developing cooperation. Specific areas of cooperation, they say, will include the exchange of information on their countries' markets, boosting steel trading and strengthening relations between the two non-commercial organizations.

MILAN, July 5 - Italian bank UniCredit SpA bought Ukrsotsbank, Ukraine's number six bank by assets, on Thursday for more than $2 billion further expanding in Eastern Europe, Reuters reported.
