Russia’s OJSC TVEL wins tender for VVER-1000 nuclear fuel technology
KIEV, Sept. 7 - An interdepartmental tender commission for selecting technology for the creation in Ukraine of an enterprise that will manufacture nuclear fuel for VVER-1000 reactors has recognized Russia's OJSC TVEL as the tender winner, Svitlana Merkulova, the assistant to the director of U.S. company Westinghouse Electric's representative office in Ukraine, told journalists. |
Industrial output to rise 6% next year, according to economy ministry
KIEV, Sept. 6 - Industrial output in Ukraine will increase 6% next year, the Economy Ministry said.
"The main engine for economic development in 2011 will be the active expansion of investment demand. Growth of gross accumulated fixed capital will speed up to 12.4% (versus the 6.8% expected in 2010) and its share in the structure of GDP will rise to 20.2% (from 18.5% in 2010)," the ministry says. |
Sales of new foreign cars in Ukraine down to ¼ of 2008 level
KIEV, Sept. 7 – Sales of new foreign cars in Ukraine (both of imported and those assembled in Ukraine) in January to July 2009 fell by 75%, to 74,365, according to a report of Atlant-M international auto holding.
Along with this, in July car sales fell by 79% compared to July 2008, but grew by over 10% compared to June 2009, to 10,394 cars.
"We can say that the foreign car market has stabilized at a level of about 10,000 cars a month, which is 4-5 times down compared to the period before crisis," the company's analysts said. |
Deflation takes hold as Ukraine’s economic situation worsens
KIEV, Sept. 7 - Ukraine had inflation of 8.2% in January-August, the State Statistics Committee said.
Inflation was 14.8% in the first eight months of 2008.
Consumer prices fell 0.2% in August following a 0.1% decline in July. Prices rose 1.1% in June, 0.5% in May, 0.9% in April, 1.4% in March, 1.5% in February and 2.9% in January.

Swedish companies to invest EUR300-400 million in Donetsk incinerator
KIEV, Sept. 4 – Ecoenergy and Biogasprom (both Swedish companies) are ready to invest EUR 300-400 million into the construction of a waste incinerator generating heat and electric power in Donetsk, according to a statement on the website of Donetsk Mayor Oleksandr Lukyanchenko. |
