KIEV, Sept. 7 – Sales of new foreign cars in Ukraine (both of imported and those assembled in Ukraine) in January to July 2009 fell by 75%, to 74,365, according to a report of Atlant-M international auto holding.
Along with this, in July car sales fell by 79% compared to July 2008, but grew by over 10% compared to June 2009, to 10,394 cars.
"We can say that the foreign car market has stabilized at a level of about 10,000 cars a month, which is 4-5 times down compared to the period before crisis," the company's analysts said.
Hyundai was the leader in sales in July due to continuing marketing programs (over 1,200 cars), and Chevrolet ranked second, increasing sales by almost two times due to a decrease in prices for all models, to 1,015 cars.
