KIEV, Jan. 4 – Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has ordered the State Property Fund to settle the claim of the trade union of ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) regarding the fulfillment of liabilities by the owner and observation of Ukrainian law.

KIEV, Jan. 8 - President Viktor Yanukovych has authorized Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky to sign guarantee agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Atomic Energy Community for a project to improve the safety of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

KIEV, Jan. 9 - A sea-based natural gas drilling rig, purchased by Ukrainian oil and gas company ChornomorNaftoGaz for $400 million, arrived in Ukraine in late December, the company reported Wednesday.

KIEV, Jan. 8 – Ukraine saw deflation in 2012 for the first time in 10 years, with consumer prices going down 0.2% throughout the year.

But consumer prices grew 0.2% in December compared to November, the State Statistics Service said.

KIEV, Jan. 3 – The Council of Ministers of Crimea has permitted the drawing up of a project on utilization of land and allocated 765.55 hectares on the territory of Bakhchysarai, Sovetsky, Bilohirsky and Chervonohvardiysk districts to build wind farms to France's Filasa International, the director of the Ukrainian subsidiary of Filasa – Krym-Eol LLC (Sudak, Crimea), Oleksandr Vanheliy, told Interfax-Ukraine.

KIEV, Jan. 3 - Ukraine has submitted an application to purchase 27 billion cubic meters (bcm) of Russian natural gas in 2012, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boyko said in an interview with Ukraine's Channel 5.

KIEV, Jan. 6 – Foreign trade turnover between Ukraine and Russia reached $54.9 billion in 2011, which is around 33% of total Ukrainian commodity turnover, the Ukrainian government's envoy for cooperation with Russia, CIS member countries, the Eurasian Economic Community and other regional associations, Valeriy Muntiyan, said.
