KIEV, Jan. 6 – Foreign trade turnover between Ukraine and Russia reached $54.9 billion in 2011, which is around 33% of total Ukrainian commodity turnover, the Ukrainian government's envoy for cooperation with Russia, CIS member countries, the Eurasian Economic Community and other regional associations, Valeriy Muntiyan, said.

"A goal to reach $50 billion was set by the president, while the pre-crisis level was $39.9 billion. At the end of the year, commodity turnover with Russia will reach $54.9 billion or 33% of total turnover," he said on the Era radio late on Thursday.

Muntiyan supported the ratification of an agreement on free trade with the CIS and Ukraine's joining the Customs Union, adding that as a whole Ukraine's commodity turnover with the CIS in 2011 is evaluated at $70 billion, or 42.3% o total turnover, while with 27 EU states it is 28.6%.
