KIEV, Dec. 10 - Ukraine is trying to revive negotiations with Korean Gas Corporation, or KoGas, over construction of a $1 billion liquefied natural gas terminal following a Spanish company’s recent denial of involvement in the project.

Cabinet plan foresees creation of oil and fuel stockpile through 2020

KIEV, Dec. 9 – The cabinet has approved a plan for the creation of minimum oil and fuel stocks for the period until 2020, the Fuel and Energy Ministry announced.

Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan said that oil would make up 60% of total strategic stocks, and fuel 40%.


Ukraine’s economy to contract 5% on year in 2009, minister says

KIEV, Dec. 10 2009 – Ukraine's economic growth will probably slow down this year will be in negative territory next year, Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn said Wednesday.

The ministry expects a 5% drop in GDP and 9.5% inflation in 2009, Danylyshyn said.

"We're planning [GDP] to be minus 5%... The calculated [inflation] index will be around 9.5%", he said.
