NBU dumped euros, pounds in favor of dollars last year, report shows
KIEV, May 8 – The National Bank of Ukraine in 2012 cut the share of non-dollar foreign currency assets in the structure of its reserves.
According to a consolidated financial report of the central bank for 2012, the share of the U.S. dollar grew by 22.6 percentage notches, to 66.4% in the structure of funds and deposits in foreign currency, while the share of euros fell by 3.7 percentage notches, British pounds sterling by 1.4 percentage notches and other currencies by 17.5 percentage notches, to 8.9%. |
Akhmetov acquires $220 million penthouse apartment in London
KIEV, May 9 – SCM Company has transferred real estate that is a part of the One Hyde Park complex in London to the company's sole shareholder, Rinat Akhmetov.
"Akhmetov decided to transfer an apartment from the ownership of SCM Company to his personal property," reads the report from SCM. |
Chamber said to reject most of Remington $35m claim against Ukraine
KIEV, May 10 – The Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce on April 28 rejected most of the claims filed by British-based Remington Worldwide Limited against Ukraine, approving over $4.5 million in claims out of more than $35 million claimed from the country, the Ukrainian Ministry Justice's press service said on Tuesday, with reference to Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych.

$300m needed for completion of An-225 transport, says Antonov CEO
KIEV, May 12 – The completion of a second An-225 Mriya transport aircraft with a carrying capacity of 250 tons requires at least $300 million, but if the financing is provided, its exploitation could be started in three years, Antonov Airlines CEO Kostiantyn Lushakov told Interfax-Ukraine. |
Ukraine denies reports it shipped dioxin-contaminated corn to Germany
KIEV, May 11 – Ukraine's agriculture ministry says it is impossible that corn containing dioxin could have been supplied to Germany from Ukraine.
Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing in Kiev on Tuesday that last year Ukraine did not export corn to Germany, and its supplies through the Netherlands (as some mass media reported) last year totaled a mere 52,000 tons. |
