Ukraine to hold majority stake in nuclear fuel production JV

KIEV, July 12 – Ukraine plans to hold a stake of over 50% in the statutory fund of a nuclear fuel production joint venture being created in the country.

The said obligatory condition is stipulated in procedures for the assessment of proposals of bidders at a tender to select technology and a partner to set up a nuclear fuel production JV in Ukraine. The procedures have been posted on the Ukrainska Pravda online publication's Web site.


OECD monitoring group cites Ukrainian progress fighting corruption

KIEV, July 12 – A monitoring group of experts of the anticorruption initiative of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development has said it is satisfied with Ukraine's efforts to fight corruption, although the group also pointed out problems such as the existence of immunity from prosecution, and some of the work of law-enforcement bodies.

KIEV, July 12 – Ukrainian and Chinese companies are in talks on the realization of important projects in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian ambassador to China, Yuriy Kostenko.


Odessa City Council to call tender to select partner for airport project

KIEV, July 9 – Odessa City Council is to call a new tender to select a strategic partner for the renovation of the municipally owned Odessa International Airport.

At a session on July 7, the council cancelled the results of the previous tender, held in January 2009, which was won by Gepard Plus Ltd., a council representative told Interfax-Ukraine.


Production of natural gas increases 3.4% year-on-year in H1

KIEV. July 9 - Production of natural gas in Ukraine went up by 3.4% year-on-year to 10.8 billion cubic meters in H1 while oil output shrank by 2.9% to 2.1 million tons, the Fuel and Energy Ministry said.

Naftogaz Ukrayiny increased gas output by 2.9% to 9.9 bcm while lowering oil production, along with gas condensate, by 0.9% to 1.9 million tons.


National communications regulator bars zero rates on mobile calls

KIEV, July 11 - Moody's Investors Service has assigned Baa1 long-term and Prime-2 short-term local currency deposit ratings, B2 long-term and Not Prime short-term foreign currency deposit ratings and a D bank financial strength rating (BFSR) to ING Bank Ukraine (IBU), Moody's reported.
