Poll shows widespread pessimism about Ukraine politics, economy

KIEV, Sept. 14 – More than half of the people in Ukraine think that the state is moving towards instability and do not trust the president, according to a poll conducted by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems in July.


USDA boosts Ukraine’s 2011 grain harvest forecast by 3.1 million tons

KIEV, Sept. 12 – The United States Department of Agriculture has revised Ukraine's grain harvest for 2011 up by 6.5%, or by 3.1 million tons, to 50.4 million tons from the forecast given a month ago.

(Polianytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk region), the owner of the well-known Bukovel ski resort, could suspend the complex's activity if the arrest of the complex's property is not lifted, Volodymyr Yuziuk, the head of the marketing and advertising department at the company, told Interfax-Ukraine.


Ukraine and Russia set to OK Khmelnytsky financial arrangements

KIEV, Sept. 14 - Ukraine and Russia will start approving draft credit and guarantee agreements on completing the third and fourth reactors at Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant in the middle of September, Volodymyr Bronnikov, the director general of Atomproektengineering, a subdivision of Energoatom, told journalists in Kiev.


Finance minister projects 3.97% budget deficit for next year

KIEV, Sept. 14 – The overall revenues of the national budget for 2010 are projected at UAH 284.8 billion, outlays at UAH 336.2 billion; the budget deficit is forecast at 3.97%, acting Finance Minister Ihor Umansky said at a special cabinet meeting on Saturday.

Crude oil deliveries to 5 top refineries off 9.7% through Aug. 31

KIEV, Sept. 11 - Deliveries of crude oil with condensate to Ukraine's five oil refineries as well as the Shebelynka gas refinery fell 9.7% to 7.079 million tons in January-August compared to the same period of 2008, the Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax.


Both bank revenues and expenditures up so far this year, NBU reports

KIEV, Sept. 11 – January through August bank revenues 2009 amounted to UAH 95.7 billion (UAH 11.5 billion in August, UAH 12.2 billion in July), while expenditures totaled UAH 111.1 billion (UAH 13.9 billion in August and UAH 15 billion in July), the National Bank of Ukraine reported.
