CIS free-trade zone will help Ukraine, says National Security chief

KIEV, Aug. 30 – An agreement on the creation of a free-trade area (FTA) within the CIS is strategically important for Ukraine and will effectively work for the benefit of all CIS member states, of the National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Kliuyev said.

Ukraine’s national budget deficit rises 45% through end of July

KIEV, Aug. 28 – The deficit of Ukraine’s national budget in January-July 2009 came to UAH 15.352 billion, growing by 44.8% or UAH 4.748 billion.

A posting on the Web site of Ukraine’s Finance Ministry says that the deficit of the budget’s general fund in January-July 2009 reached UAH 17.877 billion, which is UAH 3.805 billion up from H1.
