Steel company output down by 14% in September due to weaker demand
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Sept. 12 - Ukrainian steel companies reduced daily output of iron ore and steel by about 14% in September in reaction to weaker demand on world markets, a source at MetallurgProm, a steelmaker association, said Friday.

The government is yet to release official steel output statistics, but the comment may be the first indication that weaker steel prices began to affect the key sector of the Ukrainian economy.
