Ukraine’s economic growth improves after sectors adjust to separatist blockade
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Sept 26 – Ukraine’s economic growth may be better than expected this year after the country has adjusted to a trade blockade with Russian-backed separatist enclaves, a central bank official said Tuesday.

"We see that this year we somewhat conservatively assessed the impact of the trade blockade on GDP growth. Data for the second quarter and some figures for the third quarter show that the situation is better than we expected ... Therefore we see that by the end of 2017 the economy could grow more than we expected," Deputy Chairman of the NBU Dmytro Solohub told Interfax-Ukraine.
