KIEV, April 14 – Ukraine's Antimonopoly Committee has recommended that DTEK Dniproenergo, DTEK Skhidenergo LLC and public joint-stock company DTEK Zakhidenergo purchase fuel and steam coal for generating electricity on a competitive basis, in the amount of at least 10% of consumption (burning) of steam coal for electricity production for the same period of 2016," the committee said on Thursday.
The committee said that the steam coal market in Ukraine is functioning today in the conditions of a decline in coal production in Donbas, the loss of control over coalmines on the Ukraine uncontrolled territories, damage to coalmines, railway infrastructure, support of state-funded coal companies and the absence of trading on exchanges with steam coal for the needs of thermal power plants (TPPs).
