KIEV, Nov. 18 – Ukrainian power generating company Centrenergo has held preliminary talks with U.S. firm Recursion Ventures on Monday about supplies of American steam coal, Centrenergo said.

The company is compelled to buy coal abroad as the majority of Ukrainian coalmines are in the war zone in the east of the country and delivery from them by rail is impossible.

Its main criteria in negotiating coal purchase deals are energy value of coal, the size of shipments, the terms of delivery and payment, and the price.
