KIEV, Nov. 18 - Ukraine seek to join Turkey and Azerbaijan in their project of building a natural gas pipeline linking a major Azeri gas deposit with Europe, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytskiy said Monday.
The project, known as Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline, or TANAP, will help Ukraine to further reduce dependence on Russian gas supplies.
"Ukraine's involvement in TANAP is now being considered,” Stavytskiy said after talks between President Viktor Yanukovych and Azeri President Ilkham Iliyev in Kiev. “We have proposed an option of joining the project as investors and also with our companies producing steel pipes.”
