KIEV, Oct. 22 - Stakhanov wagon plant (Luhansk region), a large railcar manufacturing enterprise in Ukraine, plans to temporarily cut a third of its workforce due to the difficult economic situation in the CIS wagon building sector, which has resulted in a fall in the production of wagons, Chairman of the company's supervisory board Eduard Misevra has said.
"One third of employees [around 1,500 people] at Stakhanov wagon plant will be laid off. Actually, the only reason of this is the economic situation in the CIS wagon-building sector as a whole. Despite the temporarily fall in production, we hope the market and demand for our wagons will revive," he told Interfax-Ukraine.
