KIEV, April 15 – Ukrainian automobile manufacturers plan to initiate an antidumping investigation into imports of cars to Ukraine as an additional protective mechanism for the domestic automobile industry, Denys Dombrovsky, the head of the law department at UkrAVTO Corporation, told reporters.
"The introduction of special duties on imports of passenger cars is the first step, but this might not be the only mechanism for protecting manufacturers. We're taking measures to strengthen the situation. For example, the issue of conducting an antidumping investigation against importers is now being considered. Five petitioners will submit the application. We declare that global manufactures use dumping when they import cars to Ukraine and we initiate an investigation as a part of the WTO [World Trade Organization]," he said.
