KIEV, Nov. 2 – Ukrainian Rinat Akhmetov, who System Capital Management group, is wealthiest among former Soviet Union businessman with a net worth of $18.9 billion, according to Bloomberg's World's 200 Richest People ranking.
Akhmetov ranks 38th, two places ahead of Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov whose net worth is $18 billion.
Akhmetov's wealth has grown $4.5 billion, or 31.5%, so far this year, while Usmanov's assets grew by a $660 million.
At the same time, the list includes 20 Russian businessmen, while Ukraine is represented only by one. A gap between Usmanov and other eight Russian tycoons is quite narrow: Leonid Mikhelson ranks 42nd with $16.9 billion, Viktor Vekselberg is 43rd with $16.8 billion, Vladimir Lisin 44th with $16.7 billion, Alexey Mordashov 48th with $15 billion, Roman Abramovich is 51st with $14.7 billion, Mikhail Fridman 53rd with $14.4 billion, Mikhail Prokhorov 55th with $13.9 billion, and Vladimir Potanin 58th with $13.8 billion.
