KIEV, Jan. 24 – Ukraine will continue to work to increase domestic production of energy resources, President Viktor Yanukovych said in an exclusive interview for the joint project of The New York Times News Service & Syndicate and Segodnya Multimedia - "Ukraine and the World in 2012. Global Agenda."
According to the president, Ukraine started producing large volumes of domestic gas in 2011, and its production will continue to increase, the presidential press service reported.
Yanukovych said Ukraine needed to search for alternative sources of energy. "Two years ago we decided to take the path of increasing domestic production of energy. We actually increased coal production by 14 million tons in two years. This is very serious and we're going to continue on this path," he said.
