KIEV, Oct. 17 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny said Monday that a small Latvian broker had been selected as winner of tender to deliver a $400 million offshore oil rig to the company.
The tender is the first one after media allegations earlier this year of massive government corruption that may have accompanied the purchase of a similar oil rig in March.
Rigas Kugu Buvetava of Latvia was selected after offering to sell the oil rig for $399.8 million, Naftogaz reported. Rigas Kugu outbid two small British-register traders Highway Investment Processing LLP and Diafall Limited. Highway Investments offered the oil rig at $400.3 million and Diafall offered the rig at $405 million.
